Equipment Sensors Bring Industrial IoT Projects to Life

If you are a fan of the movies, maybe you remember the classic line that Robert De Niro delivers in “Taxi Driver”. I am of course referring to “You Talkin’ to Me?”.
At Sierra Monitor, we understand how important sensors are to industrial products. Sensors provide critical information like calibration and maintenance intervals or enable diagnostic features to make day-to-day tasks more effective and efficient. With our sensor technology, our Sentry IT fire and gas detection solutions are all IoT-enabled, smart connected products.
But what about the industrial equipment that don’t have sensing capabilities? Plenty of industrial equipment around the world today do not have sensors embedded in the product, missing out on a lot of tasks that can be done online, remotely, and in the cloud. If a facility manager or engineer wants to move into the IIoT space, it would be wise to implement sensors to unlock new opportunities for equipment product support and analytics.
MSI Data interviewed Sierra Monitor to discuss why embedding sensors to connect machines and analyzing the right data is vital for success in an increasingly connected and technological age. Some of the topics we explored revolve around cloud access and the importance of sensors to the IIoT.
