Environment Controller - Model 2450

Telecommunications Environment ControllerThe Model 2450 Environment Controller is designed to manage the HVAC controls, environmental alarms and rigorous personnel safety requirements of controlled environment vaults (CEV's) and walk-in cabinets. Recognized as the standard of the industry, the Model 2450 has been installed in over 90% of all new CEV's deployed since its introduction. It is available in over 30 hardware and software configurations to precisely meet the monitoring and control requirements of all makes and manufacture of CEV's and their associated HVAC systems.

HVAC Controls

The Model 2450 employs lead/lag and demand logic to control 2 air conditioners. A wide array of UL Approved control panel configurations are available for hatch type or flush-to-grade vaults employing hatch mount or split-unit air conditioning systems. An integral economizer cooling algorithm automatically operates the blower and fresh air damper of the HVAC unit or a separate fresh air ventilation system to use outside air for cooling to maximize energy efficiency.

Personnel Safety

A key criterion in the functionality of the Model 2450 is personnel safety. As a fully subterranean structure, a CEV is particularly prone to the potential for the buildup of hazardous gases. The Model 2450 monitors the CEV for the presence of combustible and toxic gases and automatically initiates ventilation when an alarm threshold is exceeded. Alarm thresholds are automatically reduced from unoccupied levels to OSHA defined, occupied levels to further ensure personnel safety. Entry and exit procedures are automatically controlled and, while the vault is occupied, it is ventilated with fresh air at prescribed intervals.
