Sentry IT 32 Channel Controller
Sierra Monitor's Sentry IT 32 Channel Controller is a powerful network-enabled hazardous gas detection system controller that can operate up to 32 detectors and interface with devices over Modbus RTU, analog 4-20 mA, Sentry PSG Bus, and conventional dry contact. As part of the Sentry IT line, the Sentry IT Controller is compatible with the Classic Sentry, Sentry IT detectors, such as the 5100-XX-IT series, and other third party sensors and devices.
With its modular internal design, users can select just those I/O components that are needed for their application without adding multiple external boxes. The Sentry IT controller's large, touch sensitive, and easy-to-read color panel, along with a simple menu-driven configuration approach makes it easy to configure and operate the system. In addition, the controller easily integrates with plant-wide distributed control systems, PLC's, personal computers, tablets, and smartphones to provide the necessary data and alarms. The embedded Web application enables management and technicians to view important data remotely and provides connectivity into the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
The Sentry IT 32 Channel Controller is approved and certified by a variety of third party agencies, including UL, SIL 2, FM, ATEX, and CE. These approvals and certifications assure our customers that we carry only the highest quality of products and performance.
The Sentry IT Controller supports GlobalCal™, our unique global calibration feature that allows a single technician to calibrate detectors from the Sentry IT Controller. With GlobalCal, a technician can complete the calibration activity at the controller location without needing to access the sensor modules. Multiple sensors can be connected to a single controller, allowing groups of sensors to be calibrated at the same time. Standard gas is applied remotely, using permanently installed tubing, rather than direct delivery to the sensor.
This simplified, non-intrusive approach eliminates travel time back and forth to each gas detector. It also increases convenience and safety, even in hard-to-reach or dangerous areas. Because calibration is done at the controller, sensors can be calibrated from floor level or outside enclosures, without having to physically access the sensor itself.
GlobalCal reduces labor costs associated with calibration. The need to shut down active process areas for calibration consequently costs facilities thousands of dollars in lost production time. GlobalCal, with its remote and non-intrusive methods, allows production to continue during the calibration process, thus avoiding the costs of lost production. In addition, factory-authorized service technicians performing gas detector calibration save time and costs by remotely calibrating all gas detectors at once from the Sentry IT Controller.

SenseSafe™, our diagnostics feature, provides the Sentry IT Controller the ability to consistently monitor connected Sentry IT gas detection sensor performance for safety and maximum lifetime. With controller-based network diagnostics and remote command capability, SenseSafe gives management and technicians another tool to manage the facility.
The Sentry IT Controller uses SenseSafe to connect to resident DSP (Digital Signal Processing) in each of our Sentry IT gas detection sensor for comprehensive and continued monitoring. Statistical analyses and error condition logging can help prolong a sensor’s life by providing accurate calibration intervals.
