The Sentry serial communications interface,
using widely known Modbus RTU protocol, enables the user to easily interface with from Sentry to Distributed Control Systems for plant-wide interoperability. Sentry's two-way serial interface enables the user of the DCS to access Sentry for data acquisition, alarming and alarm management,
historical trending, distributed architecture, and integration into the plant's
distributed control system.
You can link up to 32 Sentry controllers to a PC, providing up to 256
gas monitoring points per system.
Sentry's Modbus communications
interface provides over 620 different parameters accessible by the
PC including gas concentration, alarm setpoints, diagnostic messages,
alarm time/date, auto calibration enable, calibration concentrations,
and calibration due date. With true two-way communication, the operator
can interface with the Sentry controller directly through the PC-based
DCS software to perform such actions as alarm setpoint changes. Utilizing
the Sentry Modbus interface along with the FieldServer from Sierra
Monitor, the Sentry system can provide an interface to any commonly
used industrial or building automation protocol including Ethernet/IP,
LonWorks, Modbus TCP, ControlNet, Profibus, DH+, LonWorks, BACnet, Metasys, SNMP,
and more.
