There is a buzz in the air about the Internet of Things (IoT). While much of the initial excitement has centered on consumer devices that connect to the Internet, such as home thermostats or personal fitness monitors, it is becoming clear that the implications for businesses will be far more profound. Professor Michael Porter from the Harvard Business School believes that the rise of “smart connected devices” will unleash a productivity revolution in industry - perhaps even greater in impact than the adoption of PCs or the Internet by businesses.

At Sierra Monitor, while we like consumer toys as much as the next person, we prefer to focus our creative energies on the business-oriented Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The IIoT is the evolution of industrial automation- the addition of next generation connectivity, IP, the cloud, big data, and analytics to reliable and time-tested industrial instruments and networks. With our unique mix of competencies in sensor technology, controllers, protocol gateways, and Internet connectivity, SMC is uniquely poised to be a leader in this space.

Whether you are coming from the IT systems/software world or from the traditional industrial world, if you see yourself as being a player in this emerging IIoT space, drop us a line. We are looking for talented and ambitious people, whether new college graduates or mid-career professionals, to join our team. Write to us and let us know how you can make a difference to SMC and how SMC can make a difference to you, and we promise to get back to you.

SMC is small enough so your contribution will shine through, but established enough to offer a comprehensive vacation, medical, dental, life insurance, 401KL, and flex spending plan.

Write to us at careers@sierramonitor.com with your ideas on why we would be great together.
